Delivery Driver and Packaging Assistant

We are seeking a person to fill a combined position of Delivery Driver and Packaging Assistant. This is a full-time position, 30 hours a week, and part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This role starts May 24th and runs for 9 weeks, with the option to stay on for the right candidate.

To be eligible for this Canada Summer Jobs role, Applicants must meet all the criteria below:

    • Be between 19-30 years of age at the start of employment
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment 
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

We’re looking for someone who is:

    • Highly personable and outgoing
    • Self-motivated
    • Flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends required)
    • Works well in a small integrated team
    • Able to lift 140lbs/64kgs for short periods of time
    • Strong desire to learn about the craft beer industry
    • Class 5 license with clean driving record

As part of our Brewery Packaging Team you will be responsible for assisting the Head Brewer and Assistant Brewer with packaging, cellaring and cleaning duties. This entry level position is perfect for someone looking to get their start in the craft beverage industry and learn from a small team of industry professionals. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of canning lines and keg washers as well as cleaning, organizing and maintenance of the Brewery and its equipment as well as completing other tasks and duties as necessary.

    • Full mobility and physical capability to safely and effectively work in a brewery environment
    • Cleaning, filling and tracking kegs
    • Canning line operation, including filling boxes, assembling and wrapping pallets, and some canning line operation (will train)
    • Work safely with cleaning chemicals with reasonable safety accommodations
    • Work on feet for an entire shift
    • Grain milling – lift 55 lbs. from ground to shoulder height repeatedly
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask
    • Passionate about craft beer, and eager to learn
    • Strong attention to detail, and to cleanliness
    • Forklift certification is an asset, but we will train and certify the right candidate
    • Self-motivated, able to work and deliver results with little direct supervision

As a Delivery Driver you will be responsible for ensuring accurate order procurement and delivery of online home-delivery and licensee orders a few days a week; ensuring that each order is packed with care, and showing an appreciation of the customer. Licensee/Bar deliveries will require handling 20L (60lbs) and 50L (150lbs) kegs, so an ability to move these packaging types is required; we will provide training for best practices to ensure safe and proper handling of these products. You should feel extremely comfortable driving larger vehicles, as you will be responsible for the safety of yourself and our delivery van in all driveable weather conditions. A clean drivers abstract and class 5 license are required.
